Dies Oiassonis Roman Festival

A festival in which the life of the Roman port and settlement of Oiasso, active between 70 and 200 AD is reconstructed. The festival is dedicated to Isis, the goddess protecting the maritime world and sailing. At the end of July the Oiasso Roman Museum opens its doors and organises theatre, gastronomy, Roman games, gladiator and engineering- mining activities in the streets for all ages and turns Irun into a Roman settlement for 2 days.

The modern city of Irun was founded on the site of Oiasso, the most important archaeological dig in Guipuzkoa unearthed at the end of the twentieth century.
