The Bay Route

The Txingudi Bay Trail is a project that began in 2004 with the view to enhance the heritage of the Bidasoa-Txingudi area, promoted by the Bidasoa-Txingudi Cross-Border Consortium.

Its aim is to promote the historical, natural, environmental and heritage resources of the cities of Hondarribia, Irun and Hendaye through a series of illustrated information panels along a discovery route all around Txingudi Bay, a remarkable public space.

This route stretches 14 km from Abbadia Castle in Hendaye to the Bidasoa greenway in Irun and the Higer Lighthouse in Hondarribia, skirting the beach, the bay and the river, and passing through the main landmarks of our territory: the seaside resort in Hendaye, the Roman city of Irun and the medieval town of Hondarribia.
